Good option if you want extra healing and sustain for your team. Provides movement speed burst and can be used in clutch situations.

Mark

Mark (Snowball) for more go-in potential if you want to play aggressively.

Ignite

Ignite

Offensive option and fun button to press. Reduces your going-in potential, but adds some damage and Grievious Wounds for enemy healing. Good to score some kills early.

How it works

  1. As Veigar playing a Support, your main goal is to soak up damage while protecting your carries.
  2. You offer excellent crowd control and peel, making it harder for the enemy team to reach your backline.
  3. Adapt your playstyle depending on your team's needs: either engage and start fights, or sit back and peel for your carries.
  4. Make sure to counter enemy team. Itemize defensively based on the main damage type of the enemy team.

How to play

Support Veigar

  1. Your default skill order is maxing Event Horizon (E)! Sometimes, for more damage you can max Baleful Strike (Q) first, but overall E max is much better.
  2. Thanks to your Phenomenal Evil Power (Passive), you have lots of AP, so your abilities still do solid damage.
  3. Your Primordial Burst (R) still executes people, even when playing Support Veigar build.
  4. Do not be shy and do not wait for 'special moment'. You have the best engaging tool available - your Event Horizon (E)!

Stacking

  1. Even when playing off-meta builds like Support Veigar, it's extremely important to stack and gain AP from Phenomenal Evil Power (Passive). The permanent AP matters in the long run.
  2. Max Event Horizon (E)!
  3. Your Guardian rune scales with your Passive (AP!) making it stronger.
  4. Thanks to your Passive, you have lots of AP. Your Ultimate is still a good finisher even with this build.
  5. Do not be shy and do not wait for 'special moment'. You have the best engaging tool available - your E!

Adaptation

  1. If your team needs engage, go Trailblazer and Shurelya's Battlesong.
  2. Your team getting poked to death? Consider getting Redemption AND/OR Locket of the Iron Solari next.
  3. If your team needs peel, go Knight's Vow and Locket of the Iron Solari.
  4. Knight's Vow is a surprisingly good item. Buy it and use it if you have carry or bruiser/fighter who is doing well.
  5. You need to adapt your items to the game. Enemy team heavy on AP? Buy MR. They heavy on AD? Buy Armor. You need some damage? Well buy that.

Buffing your team

  1. Bandlepipes is a great utility item for engaging and buffing your auto attackers when you CC enemies.

    Tips and Tricks

    Riot

    1. Use Event Horizon to increase your chances of landing Dark Matter.
    2. Veigar is extremely Mana and Cooldown Reduction dependent. Try buying items with these stats in order to increase the effectiveness of your passive and Baleful Strike.
    3. Veigar is very fragile. It is valuable to select at least one summoner spell that can be used defensively.
